Space Gift Basket

UPDATE WITH PICTURES AND DETAILS!

As promised the pictures and the details from the Space Gift Basket.

TBZF in true 'Scaper fashion completely outdid herself with her contribution. Six dozen Scorpy Chip cookies in a uniquely decorated (if slighly blurry) Farscape cookie box. And we all know that unique is always valuable. Six dozen Scorpy Chip cookies???

And the overflowing basket of goodies put together by Susescaper with contributions of Hanks pins from ellenrose and trading cards from Christiarc.

Not to mention a HUGE bottle of Margarita Mix.

According to Suse the basket contents include (but are not limited to):

From what I can see, we had the margarita bottle, the San Pellegrino bottle, TBZF's cookie box, Poppa Dums (which is like an Indian spiced cracker), a bag of potato chips, a bag of tortilla chips, a jar of salsa, a jar of tapinade, chocolate-covered fortune cookies, flavoured cashews, a Green & Black milk chocolate bar, a Green and Black chocolate and caramel bar (and I think there might have been a dark chocolate one in there too), Green and Black chocolate covered cookies, Ginger chews, filled licorice, chocolate Buddhas, Tamari almonds, Mini Bites chocolate graham crackers (yup, went nuts with the chocolate! LOL), black sesame seed bar thingies, and some hard candies that I can't remember the flavour of. Dammit. Plus the trading cards and pins!

Wow.

And finally the Bird of Paradise Flower arrangement, complete with streamers, party horns and limes (for the Margaritas). Party!

Many thanks to Susescaper for putting all this together and taking the pictures. (And there might be more pictures to come.)

UPDATE:

On March 24, Susescape delivered two baskets to Space from Farscape Fans. Here is her quick report, pictures and more details to follow!

Hi there! It is DONE. Woohoo!!!!! My mom drove me down to CityTV this morning, helped me load/unload the basket and flowers and I met with Mark Askwith who was really impressed and kept saying "aw, thanks you guys, this is great!" Hee.

He took me up to the Space offices where I met the *only other person working so far this morning*! , one of the editors who is also a Scaper. She was really impressed with the basket and flowers as well. (The reason nobody was in is that the "Sin City" press showing (I think that's what it was) and party was on and most of them were out till 3 a.m. Heh.) He did say Jonathan Lyr would be in at 10, but I had to leave before then.

Anyway, Mark took me on a tour of the offices (which are *really* tiny!) and where they shoot the HypaSpace segments, the editing room, etc. and then they showed me the Spaceflow piece with Ben Browder and Brian Henson that they are either going to show leading into the "Through the Wormhole" piece today, or before the mini tomorrow - I'm not sure. Heh. It was cool. ;) Then we did a bit of a photo op and I had to leave. I've taken many pics of the basket, the cookies, the flowers, etc but they're on my disposable camera so pray they all come out! LOL.

Space has been very good to us 'Scapers, they have come through for us with an absolutely spectacular extravangza of Farscape goodness leading up to Peacekeeper Wars. Canadians are very lucky with our science fiction channel.

Suse delivered a flower basket with Bird of Paradise Flowers and limes for decoration (limes for the margaritas....) and party horns and streamers (at least that is what I ordered... ). I asked for something that looking like a party - a fiesta!

And Suse organised a gift basket full of 'Scaper goodness - complete with TBZF Scorpy Chip cookies, two sets of Hanks elegant Farscape Pins plus additional Winona pins from ellenrose, trading cards from Christiarc and a huge bottle of margarita mix.... not to mention a whole tonne of other goodies!

This has been an incredible project, fans from all over Canada and the States donated time effort and money to it. It has been a very long time in the planning (over six months!!!), but I think that the results are more than worthwhile. (I sure hope it was a surprise - it has been killing me to keep it a secret!)

Thanks Space... like we said... "You guys Rock the Kasbah AND the funky Red Medina!" Pictures to follow shortly ('cause I am dying to know what it all looked like!!!!)

And we got some thank yous...

From Deep Throat:

Thanks Scapers! What a pleasant surprise!!!!! All the goodies are being enjoyed by everyone here at SPACE. That was very sweet, generous and thoughtful of all of you. Be sure to check out all the fun and excitement on SPACE this Easter Weekend. Catch a Farscape mini-marathon before the exciting Canadian Television Premiere of Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars . . .

And from Mark Askwith:

Dear 'Scapers...

I have just stumbled out of the edit suite were I have spent most of the day making television.

On behalf of everybody here at SPACE I wanted to thank you for the goodies. I think the particular significance of the flowers was lost on everybody but me...

The cards and pins were a great touch, but the big winners were the organic food. Much appreciated by our marathon running editor, our picky eaters, and those of the alergy persuasion.

I hope you all have as much fun watching the Farscape Marathon.

It was lots of fun to do, and let's hope that there are more Farscape projects to come...

...Which I note both Through the Wormhole and the PKW DVD special alluded to...

happy harvey easter everybody!

Producer,
Space: The Imagination Station

With the recent announcement of the airing date of Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (March 25 and 26), this project has kicked up into high gear. If you would like to say "Thank You" to Space for everything they have done for Farscape (and they have done a lot), please make a donation to a gift basket to be sent to them just before the Easter Weekend. Any amount would be welcome.

The Space Channel has been very supportive of Farscape and Farscape Fan efforts to save and promote the show. The following is a list of just some of the things that they have done for us 'Scapers:

  • approached Sci-Fi when Farscape was originally cancelled about co-funding the series
  • aired footage of 'Scapers who rallied at Speakers Corner for the 5th of Farscape rally; they even put 'Scapers on a basic (non-cable) channel, City-TV and left the footage on their website for over eight months
  • aired Farscape in order without hiatuses and breaks during the first run
  • had Ben Browder as an announcer during the Spaceys, their annual awards show
  • broadcast footage of 'Scapers and the SaveFarscape table from Toronto Trek on their station.
  • encouraged us in everything to promote Farscape
  • Mark Aswith (a producer on SPACE) has come online during his off work hours to answer questions for 'Scapers.
  • produced and ran Farscape Flow pieces to promote the show. More than they did for any other series.
  • currently airs Farscape every Sunday, in order
  • features any breaking Farscape news during their weekly news show
  • will air the mini-series this Easter Weekend
  • is planning to develop a ten to fifteen minute piece to air just before the Peacekeeper Wars mini-series to familiarise newbies with some of the shows backstory.

Currently the total for the Gift Basket stands at $214.39 CAD

I was thinking that the gift basket for Space should have a Farscape theme. Here is a picture of an arrangement of Bird of Paradise flowers in a Margarita Glass. What we might want to do it riff on this idea and send a gift basket with Bird of Paradise flower arrangement, margarita glass(s) with all the fixings, and pizza.

Check it out - and instead of lemons - limes.
